Here at Dream Cars we have been restoring American cars for almost 30 years. From complete ground up restorations to chroming, mechanical, interior and body work. If there's something that we don't know about restoring classic American cars, then it's simply not worth knowing!
American cars are supported by a multi-billion dollar worldwide industry of NOS, reproduction and used parts. Virtually every vehicle and every item is covered. We offer two levels of re-chroming, the first is a very good driver/local car show quality (which most cars tend to have) the second is a 100 point show quality job which would be amongst the best chrome available in the world today.
It should always be remembered with re-chroming old parts that the look of the final job will depend on the original condition of the part. This isn’t to say poor, rusty or damaged parts cannot be restored for re-chroming but to get a 100% show quality piece, we need to start with an almost perfect core in terms of metal condition.
Powder coating - great for suspension, radiator supports, inner fenders.
Zinc plating - hinges, hood latches, bare metal brackets have this finish.
Anodising - We believe ours is the best in the business and the closest to factory spec
Cadillac grills are a particular favourite!
We have a combined experience of over 80 years working on American classics. Whether you need a service, brake rebuild, new shocks, an engine or transmission overhaul etc, we can undertake the task AND supply the correct parts – don’t be fooled by people that tell you parts are unavailable due to the age of the car!
Often over-looked on cars that are used daily. We offer a couple of options. A basic detail/clean consists of removing all the easily accessible stuff around the top side of the engine room, giving the car a thorough jet clean to remove as much dirt and grease as possible.
Repainting engine, cleaning or repainting the upper bay area and firewall if needed, re-plating hinges and catches, re-assembly with new decals. A good example of this can be seen on our 1960 Chevrolet Impala convertible on the Cars for sale page.
The second option is a total detail. This is a much more major operation, the car is stripped down to the chassis rails and everything is perfectly cleaned, refinished to it’s factory correct finish, wiring has insulation taken back and re-done, all wishbones and A arms are cleaned and painted. It is a 100 point job and can be done in conjunction with a mechanical rebuild.
Again, there are various options available. We offer full sheet metal rust repair and fabrication done to a ‘driver’ type quality or a full 100 point as per factory job – both ways still mean the removal of rust and replacement with new steel.
We can do my spot paint work repairs, re-sprays to ‘freshen up’ your car or a full bare-metal re-spray to show standards – look out for our blue 59 Biarritz on the show circuit this year, this car has our ultimate paint job!
We can supply any tyre for your car whether it be an original spec cross-ply white wall, a bias-belted red-stripe or the very latest in old style/new technology radial ply wide whitewall tyres these will transform the ride and handling of your car.
We have facility to upholster any vehicle not just American in all materials. Thirty years on the hobby has led us to the best suppliers of original and correct fabrics, cloth, vinyl's and leathers for your car. Our Tanneries can match any colour leather, including the factory metallic colours found in many fifties and sixties luxury cars, to the original or specified colours of your car!
We are also able to supply correct di-electric stamped vinyl's and leather inserts to absolute factory correct standard. We supply all and any new rubbers and weather stripping for any car.
Most older US cars were not fitted with seat belts as standard. We provide a retro fitting service to fit belts into your classic. We’ll endeavour to do this as unobtrusively as possible and have available colours which will match your interior and original style ‘aircraft’ buckles which are in keeping with the interior!
We all want to cruise to some good sounds but we don’t want a modern stereo unit ruining the line of our classic! Our bespoke service will discreetly fit a modern unit into your car without drilling, cutting door panels and dashboards.
